WaterWays NZ ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. This is used for authentication and to personalise your experience.

Location Data

WaterWays uses your device's GPS to provide live navigation features. Location data is processed on your device. When you record a route, the GPS trail is stored in your account so you can review past trips. We do not sell or share your location data with third parties.

Usage Analytics

We collect anonymous usage analytics (e.g. which features are used, crash reports) to improve the app. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide navigation and route tracking features
  • To sync your routes and settings across devices
  • To improve app performance and fix bugs
  • To communicate important service updates

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). Route data and account information are encrypted in transit and at rest.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Firebase — authentication and crash reporting
  • Supabase — data storage and sync
  • RevenueCat — subscription management

Each service has its own privacy policy governing their use of data.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your route and trip data
  • Opt out of analytics collection
